This 1950 Olds 88 is owned by Haskell and Liz Cowan of Porterville.
The winner of the timingtower.com award at the 2014 NSRA Western Nats is a 1950 Oldsmobile 88 owned by Haskell and Liz Cowan of Porterville, CA. This nicely restored car is painted cypress pearl and black, the upholstery is gray with cypress accents, and it sports a Pontiac GTO 400 engine. That the car is an early 1950 model is clear because it has the windshield that was used on the 1949 models. (Back in the day car makers were thrifty using up the parts left over from the prior year’s model.) This is the first show for the Olds since it’s rebuild was complete. Haskell and Liz bought this car over the internet about 3 years ago and had it shipped out from Georgia. It was painted fuschia! When Liz and Haskell got married 57 years ago, Haskell was driving a ’50 Olds. Looks like he’ll still be driving a ’50 Olds on their 60th wedding anniversary.
